Solihull snowed under by health and safety!

This morning the sun has been shining brightly in Solihull. Just the best type of weather for walking about, even in the snow. I rang Solihull council to get an explanation for this crass stupidity about closing the schools. In fact, I was also complaining, but I had anticipated beforehand that it would be a forlorn attempt. The girl answering the phone gave me some vague response about allowing people to get to work. "How about teachers getting to work?" I quickly responded. "Well," she said, "it's about Health and Safety!" "Ah," I replied, "the dreaded Health and Safety!". She then terminated the call.

It's no use really complaining, because they had an agenda already in place. Their paranoia is all about children not falling over, parents not skidding around in the playground, and teachers not slipping on the school steps. It is about not being sued, or rather, the crazed thoughts running around their heads that they may be sued. I'm also wondering what will happen tomorrow if the snow isn't shifted. Will they repeat the episode?

Reality has gone out the window. They can't or won't clear the snow. Cost too much! So they shut the schools which costs us all too much. Lost days at work, time not productively spent. I'm thinking of ways to sue them for my lost time, but there probably aren't any.

If they want to be in charge of education let them educate themselves first by going to a country that knows how to deal with snow. Even 10% of the tips they pick up will help alleviate this insanity. Because unless they change their ways, we can only understand that every time it snows the schools close down.

That seems to be the first lesson they want to teach the kids!
