You've got to hand it to Barack Obama. He's coming up with ideas faster than Sir Alan Sugar on The Apprentice. The latest is for the USA to return to its railroad days, this time with a network of high speed trains."My high-speed rail proposal will lead to innovations that change the way we travel in America. We must start developing clean, energy-efficient transportation that will define our regions for centuries to come," Obama said. "A major new high-speed rail line will generate many thousands of construction jobs over several years, as well as permanent jobs for rail employees and increased economic activity in the destinations these trains serve. High-speed rail is long overdue, and this plan lets American travelers know that they are not doomed to a future of long lines at the airports or jammed cars on the highways." I say hear, hear to that. Stuck in a car going nowhere with the Georgia sun stiffling your brains is no joy. The sun should be for enjoyment such as relaxing on the beach at Tybee Island!
So Casey Obama is going to get the trains on the move again. Some places may get a completely new life. I think it's a great idea. But for a more erudite explanation than I could give read this blog.
