87-year-old Eileen "disappears off radar"!

Poor Eileen Bishop. Not a day for her! Her mobility scooter sped off out of control as she was going to church and she was rescued by police five miles from home. The trouble began when her husband, who thought her scooter "hadn't been going that well", decided to up the speed to three-quarters. She then turned into Road Runner and, "Suddenly she passed me at full tilt," Mr Bishop said. "I shouted after her but she is a bit deaf. I couldn't chase her as I've had a triple heart bypass. She just disappeared off the radar."

She admitted that she was "half asleep", but I'm sure she must have woken up during the ride. Five miles! What nobody has explained, least of all Mrs.Bishop is why she wasn't found way before she totted up such a distance. If the motorist hadn't reported her "swerving" across the road, would she have gone right on until the battery ran out? All very strange.

It kind of implies that most people either don't want to get involved as they see a panic-striken old lady going past on a "speeding" mobility scooter or she just smiled sweetly and carried on.

Whatever - I do not know. But Mrs.Bishop has entered the Andy Warhol 15-Minute Hall of Fame!
