Frau Merkel's Greek island real deal

The Greeks are in difficulty. Not only are they up to their eyeballs in debt, but they are getting further into the clutches of the EU mandarins. Nigel Farage was not wrong when he said Greece had become a subservient statelet of the European Union. Now the German Chancellor has come up with a good wheeze on the financial front. She's had a look at the map and spotted that there are plenty of Greek islands so why not flog off a few for extra cash?

Frau Merkel reckons the Greeks should sell uninhabited islands of which there are 227. I'm not sure if such real estate is worth much. Who would buy such an island? Richard Branson? The latest lottery winner? Or maybe Lord Ashcroft, to keep up his non-dom credentials? Definitely no doms on those islands.

Personally I think this crazy idea just about sums up the arrogant thinking of the EU machine politicians. It's gone past the absurd into the realms of fantasy. If implemented this could set a very bad precedence, leading to all manner of dodgy deals. Gordon Brown could be flogging off our islands including the inhabited ones. It's got an Ealing comedy flavour about it. Passport to Pimlico? Frau Merkel wants to see your visa!

The Baroness and The Clown

Much has been said in today's papers about Baroness Ashton of Upholland and the Belgian Prime Minister, Herman Van Rompuy. I tend to agree with lots about the undemocratic nature of the EU decision-making process. In 48 hours as much has been written about them as in the last 48 years!

Baroness Ashton is keen on the Daleks of Doctor Who fame. So much so that she has a full-sized one at home. Mr Van Rompuy has been likened by his sister, a rival politician, to a clown. Perhaps the Dalek may have ways of exterminating the EU or maybe loads of clowns can descend on the Commission to out gag the new clown!

Either way, Daleks or Clowns - it's still an organisation that likes to exterminate democratic choice and make clowns out of us all. For example, what organisation in the world that purports to be for the people can hide their financial activity behind years of unaudited accounts?

German MEPs in "democracy stitch-up"!

Germans love democracy. Well the people do. As for their elected representatives one could say a few of them are up to the same old tricks as in years gone by. One savoury character in the European Parliament is Christian Democrat MEP Inge Graessle (pictured). She's got the makings of a perfect MEP. All fiddling expenses and fixing the committees. Why do I attack her so? Because she and her gravy train chums blocked Marta Andreason, newly-elected MEP for UKIP from becoming vice-chairman of the European Parliament's budgetary committee.

"They know that I know too much. I know where the bodies are buried and that's why they don't want me," said Mrs Andreasen. She was sacked by Lord Kinnock when he was gravy train supremo. Anyone threatening to derail the Kinnock's income stream is likely to get chucked out of the caboose.

It is utterly deplorable that such people as Inge Graessle are let anywhere near a democratic debating chamber. "The role she (Marta Andreason) played in the past, what I feel was a certain scandalising of issues, is not really one we want endorsed by her becoming vice-chairman," she said. Well, no Inge. That's because you got your hand smacked as you were getting it out of the money pots!

This is the glorious EU outfit that we are told is good for Europe. No more good for us than swine flu is. Seeing as there are so many swine in that place, one would have thought the flu would have hit them by now!

Libertas is let out of the stable!

Libertas, the pro-European anti-EU centralising party started by Irish political maverick Declan Ganley, is out of the stable and running around the EU paddock. They hope to have candidates across the EU, so that every citizen can vote en masse against the constitution of the elite.

It is going to be some kind of electoral fisticuffs this time round. In the right corner is the BNP talking tough on any subject passing them by. Then in the middle to muddled ground there are the Ukippers, still fighting the cause but with folding tents to contend with in several constituencies. They've even got this United Kingdom First Party sniping at them. It is a bit of a pompous title considering that there are plenty of us who want to put the country first but may not necessarily agree with them! The English Democrats are giving it a whirl again, plus all manner of disparate groups, who whilst not being in the contest will be adding their ten pence worth.

Libertas may well do well. I will look at their manifesto. The LibDems have gone all prissy and EU protectionist. A spokesman said "anti-European voters in Europe were spoilt for choice" in the upcoming election. Cheeky sod! He thinks every person who is not brown-nosing in Brussels is anti-European. Well, chummy, they are not! Those of us opposed to the corruptions and vices of the European Elite are very pro Europe. It's just that we want a democratic, open and free Europe devoid of these pointy penpushers and legalised layabouts.

Roll on the voting!

A postscript! I've just seen this from the cravenly slavish EU fan by the name of Graham Watson, a LibDem MEP. Rather takes the biscuit. Watson is as undemocratic as they come when he wants his own way. Fancy that. He thinks that Ireland could be chucked out of the EU for voting no. Well, he may not last past June, so that won't be a bad thing. Democracy? Not in Graham Watson's mind!

Caroline Flint in pompous remarks remark!

Caroline Flint is another New Labour goddess given to rather hypocritical remarks. She says some Labour MPs and trade unionists could give the BNP an "unintentional boost" in the Euro elections in June. She fears "feeding a climate of intolerance". That's rich coming from a woman who got her first husband flung out of the country as an undesirable alien. The poor man was deported and put on a plane back to Tunisia. He felt a climate of intolerance. She better start by getting her act together by supporting British industry rather than making pious statements about others.

She says, "EU membership, including free movement of workers, has been good for British families and companies and we must vocally support it." Up to a point, I suppose!

It's the EU's way or it's the way out!

The European Union is fast becoming a haven for the undemocratic, the bureaucratically minded, and the plainly corrupt. I'm not sure which camp I put Richard Corbett, a British Labour MEP in. Probably a mixture of the first two. I'll be charitable and suggest that he's not corrupt. That's not to say that the others get off that lightly. There are plenty of corrupt characters floating around the Brussels edifice, some elected, others there by knowing which jobs get the biggest brown envelopes stuffed! Corbett is leading the European Union assembly’s political establishment in attempting to push through changes that will silence dissidents by changing the rules allowing Euro-MPs to form political groupings. Of course, their troughs will have silk rims to allow their snouts to escape unnecessary bruising when they rush to gobble up the cash savings!

Corbett’s proposals will also give the President of the Parliament sweeping powers to approve or reject parliamentary questions. A kind of censor-in-chief. The whole thing is disgraceful. Nigel Farage, leader of the UK Independence Party, claimed that the move goes hand in hand with the denial of popular votes on the new EU Treaty. "Welcome to your future. This shows an EU mindset that is arrogant, anti-democratic and frankly scary,” he said. "These people are so scared of public opinion they are willing to set in stone the right to ignore it. Freedom requires the governing elite to be held to account. They must be getting very worried if they are enacting such dictatorial powers for themselves." Very worried indeed.

Democracy has never been seen as a popular vehicle for the powerful. Those that are creating this United States of Europe do so by stealth rather than open debate. They have caused democracy to be the servant of their world rather than the master. We have been foolish in allowing it to happen.

EU laws hold Britain back

I saw this piece by Mike Nattrass MEP in one of my local papers, the Solihull Times. Under the heading "EU laws hold Britain back" it is in his regular column - 'Another crazy day in Brussels' with UKIP West Midlands MEP Mike Nattrass. This is what he wrote -

If part 1 had you asking why I show venom towards the EU, understand that this parliament in 35 years has created more UK laws than Westminster has made since 1485 and the battle of Bosworth Field.

It holds Britain back from trading with the world, including Europe, and restricts innovation. I love Europe, its people and its diversity. EU harmonisation damages the individuality of its people.

Brussels 2004 confirmed a rewrite of history was being made. The president said "WW1 was a Civil War." I shouted into my microphone "No one told my two grandfathers they were in it." I yelled "What were the Americans, the Indians, the Australians..." and I was switched off. In disbelief we heard that there were "No Germans in WW2".... they were "Nazis!" That night I realised conscripted Germans were insulted, many were not Nazis.

February in Strasbourg confirmed referendum failure, I left the voting chamber still dressed in my yellow "Too chicken for a referendum" shirt.

After an interview with ITV they said "We had better get this away before it is confiscated". "What!" I said. They replied "Yes, they do not allow people to talk like that if they can stop it."

That day Shirin Wheeler of the BBC had been told that she "could not video UKIP in the chamber" as "you cannot video dissent". She replied: "Either we video it all or nothing. Which do you want?"

Good for Shirin and thank goodness for the Solihull Times.

That's the whole trouble with the EU for me. Spin and subterfuge. Deceit and deception. They claim to be of the side of the citizen, but all along they want it their way or no way. Democracy? Of a kind!

Tory rebel Bob Spink becomes Ukip's first MP

The Daily Telegraph has announced that the UK Independence Party will announce today that Mr. Robert Spink, formerly of the Conservative Party will join the party. The BBC announces that he already has!

So UKIP gets its first MP. It would have been better for them, I suppose, if they had won the seat in an election, but gaining a seat by whatever means (foul ones excluded, of course!) is OK. UKIP can be pleased that they have an MP, two peers, and ten MEPs. Makes a baker's dozen!

When I posted before that Bob Spink might join UKIP I was told "You're welcome to him!". As I'm not a member of UKIP, I'm not bothered in that sense. However, it helps the cause of those against the centralising powers and interfering nature of the European Union. Personally I want to see the EU transformed into a Commonwealth of Europe. I want a big exit door constructed for the European Parliament, the Council of Ministers, and all the brown envelope brigade of Brussels to go through so that they get the sort of radar checking you find at airports!

In the meantime, UKIP gets Bob Spink! We'll have to see how effective he becomes as a UKIP member rather than a Conservative one.

Irish democracy hijacked by EU and its Irish stooges!

If you ever wondered how undemocratic the EU can be, then just reflect on how they simply HATE referendums. They much prefer the dodgy types like Berlusconi, a man who can win elections even if half the state prosecutors want him in jail!

So the EU mandarins have turned their gaze towards Ireland, where a referendum is to take place on the Constitutional Treaty that is supposed to be something else! They have helped to try to fix the outcome by "suggesting" it would be a good idea if Bertie Ahern went before the poll took place. Daniel Hannan poses this on his Telegraph blog.

Why did Bertie Ahern stand down as Ireland’s Prime Minister? Alright, because he is facing corruption allegations, but why did he resign now? The Guardian’s Henry McDonald, who knows a thing or two about Irish politics, is in no doubt. The Taoiseach stood down to ensure a “Yes” vote in the only national referendum on the European Constitution Lisbon Treaty that the EU couldn’t cancel.

McDonald quotes a senior Irish government source saying: “Fianna Fáil didn’t want the referendum on the European treaty to be diverted into an electoral judgment on Bertie Ahern. His going now gives Brian Cowen a chance to sell the yes campaign on its merits for Ireland free from any diversions such as Ahern’s personal finances.”

Makes sense to me. Had Bertie stuck around, the plebiscite might have become a referendum on what the Irish call “gombeenism” (very roughly, “sleaze”). And the last thing Eurocrats want, what with their accounts not having been audited for 13 years, is a vote about corruption. So now, instead of the referendum being a chance to vote “No” to a discredited leader, it’ll be held in the middle of the honeymoon of his successor – almost certainly the Euro-fanatical Brian Cowen (known to his detractors as “Biffo” Cowen: Big Ignorant F***er From Offaly”).

Well, I hope the voters in Ireland see through this Euro-Gombeenism (great new hyphenated word for me!) and vote NO without any hesitation. They won't be voting against Europe, or trade, or good international relations, but they will be denying the troughfeeders in Brussels the satisfaction they are so desperately wanting.

We need to stand up for democracy. This new guy, Biffo Cowen......well! If he's such a big so-and-so from Offally, then the NO vote should be massive.
