George Osborne pledges Budget growth for economy

"My box of tricks"
George Osborne is about to get up and tell us whether we are going to be better off or worse off. That's the usual stuff of budgets and chancellors. However, this budget is different, I think. We can either carry on with boom and bust or we can all be grown up and realise that the economy does not work itself but we work the economy.

The Coalition is doing some good things. It is doing some odd things. I don't think it has done that many bad things so far. However, they talk about tackling corporate sleaze but appear to be doing it through clenched teeth. It's no good talking to the bosses of big business as if one is attending an amateur ventriloquists convention. "Gottle of geer!" is no way to convince the bamboozlers we are serious.

Britain needs entrepreneurial activity, it needs new ideas for new products, it needs workers working sensible hours for good pay. It short we need to create real added value to everything we do. What we have had in recent years is fake money creating fake wealth. I saw the Bank of England officials withering under the scrutiny of the Treasury Select Committee. The Bank has a nice little video about "quantitative easing" (the 21st century's best  ever euphemism!) where they admit that money is created electronically. The female voiceover makes you think it is all so wonderful. Like a holiday in the Canaries!

THEY CREATE THE MONEY OUT OF THIN AIR!!!

So if George Osborne can turn the culture of bogus bond creation around, turn the fiddlers and fakers out and bring in the real workers, the real ideas people, the entrepreneurs, the wealth creators, then we will all be better off.

Let the bamboozlers pay their taxes, let the electronic moneymakers get a real shock from their machines, and turn the so-called tax havens into tax harvests.

If we are all in this together, we should be going in the same direction, for similar goals and similar aims.

St George's Day - England's Day

Happy St. George's Day. My daughter has gone to school to celebrate with face painting and decorating biscuits. It's something she's been looking forward to. Children from all kinds of backgrounds will be joining in and having fun.

I really hope the people of England can now begin to realise that celebrating being English is as good as celebrating being Irish, Chinese or Caribbean. People from these lands know who they are and are justly proud of it. I've never heard anyone say there was anything suspect in a St. Patrick's Day parade. I wonder when we are going to have a St. George's Day parade. I bet if I asked for the streets of Birmingham to be cleared for a jolly flag-waving meandre through town some flinty-eyed pointy-head would react and say it would be a problem.

When the English Democrats launched their general election in Dartford, some fresh-faced copper lunged forward and started to suggest that the very sight of an English flag would be provocative (to some people he had in mind!). He tried to follow this line of argument, but was persuaded of his ridiculousness and he withdrew.

Isn't it a crying shame that the police, council officials and other such people are now infected with this crazed notion that to be English is somehow offensive. It isn't, but these political Pharisees are continuing to infect our politics, our country and who we are.

I want to see a new lot of MPs who will cast aside this political incorrectness and bring back common sense and decency. Being English is not about DNA mixtures but about a sense of values and of belonging. Those who impugn Englishness as they do are decidely not very English in their attitudes. In fact, it's all an alien doctrine they are trying to impose.

Tolerance and decency. That's being English. Ever known a politically correct apparatchik to be tolerant and decent?

UK economy emerges from recession

We're out of recession, quip the economists. They were touting this last night. Actually, figures showed the economy had grown by a weaker-than-expected 0.1% in the last three months of 2009. Miniscule, I'd say, but at least it's going in the right direction.

Such a plus figure of tiny proportions needs working on. I have in mind Casanova knocking on the Old Lady of Threadneedle Street's door and asking if she wants to come out for a good time. She's only opened it a millimetre - giving him enough space to squint at her finery.

It's going to be hard work keeping up the strength to get the public finances in order. Oh, well!

Happy St.George's Day!

Today is St.George's Day. I wonder how many people remembered. To be honest I nearly forgot, what with my mind on other things. Terrible, and me blogging on such things as an English parliament and constitutional fairness for the English and people of England.

I put it all down to the fact that we live in a society that doesn't feel at ease with such stuff. If I had my way today would be a public holiday. Scrap the May Day red flag nonsense of Old Labour and celebrate something worthwhile, honest and decent.

The BBC is doing its bit, but I see they have a picture of a man in a suit of armour dragging a dragon past Buckingham Palace. If that's the sort of publicity we need to raise awareness, so be it, but I would hope one day we can all look forward to a really fun day of celebration and national pride.

Taxpayers' cart put before bankers' lame horse!

Last night on Channel 4 News there was a chap from the Leek Building Society talking to Jon Snow. Snow is like Paxman. He can spot waffle and weasle words. The chap in question (didn't get his name) said he thought this injection of taxpayers' money was a "start". Jon Snow, asked him how much money was required. "If you're going to drop cash in the ocean, how much is needed?" The answer seemed less than satisfactory, but he did say one thing that I thought, well, that sums it all up.

This money is to rebuild confidence. Apparently, it's all down to us, the suckers who feel we can't trust the banks. It's all our fault! We should be thinking more positively. House prices aren't falling, it's all a bad dream. But when this money finally comes across from the sticky fingers of Mervyn King and his coffer keepers, we are all to be good boys and girls. Be thankful and think good things!

Are these bankers completely devoid of a culpability brain cell? "Oh, we did no wrong. We just lent to fools like you!" So now they get bailed out by us, yes US, the taxpayers. Want to know where the 10p tax band's gone. Into the pot, to be cooked up with some other delectable ingredients, such as stealth taxes and VAT increases.

It's about time, as Ron Paul keeps telling Americans, that we took our country back. It's not Alistair Darling's money, Mervyn King's money, it's OUR MONEY!! Billions going into propping up a financial system that has all the hallmarks of the South Sea Bubble! Well, it's popped and we need to make sure they don't get greedy, risky, and reckless again.
