Berlusconi is a latin loudmouth!

What is it with Signor Berlusconi, the lira (euro) fiddling Prime Minister of Italy. Childishly he shouts at President Obama during a G20 photo shoot at Buckingham Palace. The Queen was not amused.

He makes cheesy jokes about Obama being suntanned! Actually, they are not worthy of being called jokes. Now he has gone beyond the pale. He thinks that the earthquake victims of L'Aquila should think of themselves as being on a "camping weekend". 260 people dead, 100 critically injured, and 17,000 made homeless, and he thinks they should all be in Hi-de-Hi mood.

The man is nothing but a latin loudmouth.

Bush says sorry to Berlusconi

George Bush has had to apologise to the Italian Prime Minister for an "insulting" biography which was included in a press kit distributed to reporters travelling with Mr.Bush to the G8 summit in Tokyo. Bush calls Berlusconi a "good friend". However, I don't doubt that his staff created a reasonably accurate description of the Italian leader.

White House spokesman Tony Fratto issued an apology. "A biography of Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi included in the press package used language that is insulting both to Prime Minister Berlusconi and to the Italian people," he said. Maybe insulting to Berlusconi, but a sizeable portion of the Italian people wouldn't have minded if he had spent time behind bars when he was up on corruption charges.

I'd liken the report to the curate's egg. It was good in parts!

Alitalia alinogood for Air France-KLM

Alitalia has been jilted! No shot-gun wedding, the courtship's over. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Franco-Dutch carrier "has definitively yanked its offer off the table". So no wedding feast.

Silvio Berlusconi will have to come up with an emergency rescue plan if this ailing airline is to keep flying. Italian taxpayers should ready themselves for their new prime minister knocking on their doors with a big begging bowl.
