Cheney reckons Bush was an "ordinary politician"!

Dick Cheney should have president with Bush as his supplicant. We'd have had shootouts and shootups all round the world! No cringing lefty would have survived. It would be like the Oil Barons Ball every day.

The Washington Post sees personal trouble ahead between Bush and Cheney. As a taster, last month, an account in Time magazine, based on close access to Bush's personal lawyer and White House counsel, described Cheney's desperate end-of-term efforts to change Bush's mind about a pardon. Cheney, who has spent a professional lifetime ignoring unflattering stories, issued a quietly furious reply. In the most explicit terms, he accused Bush of abandoning "an innocent man" who had served the president with honor and then become the "victim of a severe miscarriage of justice." Cheney now says privately that his memoir, expected to be published in spring 2011, will describe their heated arguments in full.

Cheney's disappointment with the former president surfaced recently in one of the informal conversations he is holding to discuss the book with authors, diplomats, policy experts and past colleagues. By habit, he listens more than he talks, but Cheney broke form when asked about his regrets. "In the second term, he felt Bush was moving away from him," said a participant in the recent gathering, describing Cheney's reply. "He said Bush was shackled by the public reaction and the criticism he took. Bush was more malleable to that. The implication was that Bush had gone soft on him, or rather Bush had hardened against Cheney's advice. He'd showed an independence that Cheney didn't see coming. It was clear that Cheney's doctrine was cast-iron strength at all times -- never apologize, never explain -- and Bush moved toward the conciliatory."

What's that about oil barons?

Cheney talks tough on torture!

Dick Cheney is an odd cove. He is of the split personality politician tendency. When it came to people having a go at his lesbian daughter for not playing the "game" of Republican politics, as the so-called Christian Right suggested, he quite rightly said it was none of their business. Dick Cheney is not one to mince his words.

However, when it comes to torturing your opponents in the War on Terror, all liberal ethics shoot out the window. Cheney views interrogation techniques such as water-boarding a success. He has no problem with causing someone to go half-way to St.Peter's Gates and back in a violent mock drowning. It's all a great success according to him.

Well, if I was half drowned, water in my lungs, panting for breath, with my brain spinning about, I think I might just summon up enough strength to mutter anything my tormentors wanted to know. Cheney has an odd idea about how to conduct interrogation.

Having spent the dying days of his vice-presidency denying such things happened, he now wants the world to recognise such barbarity as a "success". I'm sure the world will not do so and prefer President Obama's take on it all.

The CIA does a sterling job looking after the interests of the American people, but they need to be better than the people they are after. Obama is right and the CIA will respect his leadership and his support for them.

Dick Cheney and his water-boarding work is consigned to history!

Obama ticks off "My Cousin Cheney"!

Who'd have thought it? Dick Cheney and Barack Obama are kin! At least that's what Lynne Cheney thinks. She delved into the ancestral past of hubby Dick only to find that he and Barack share the same French Huguenot forebear. According to Lynne, Obama is a descendent of Mareen Duvall. This French Huguenot’s son married the granddaughter of a Richard Cheney, who arrived in Maryland in the late 1650s from England. However she hasn't given references so it isn't gospel proof.

My Cousin Cheney! I think there should be a film about it all. Including the up to date stuff. Dick Cheney has been sounding off about letting "terrorists" out of Quantanamo. In Dick's world it matters not whether one is innocent or guilty, beaten, framed or tortured, so long as the "War on Terror" makes America safe.

Obama is right to confront such nonsense. As he asks, "How many terrorists have actually been brought to justice under the philosophy that is being promoted by vice president Cheney?" None at all! "It hasn't made us safer," Obama says. "What it has been is a great advertisement for anti-American sentiment." And what is the point of that?

Dick Cheney had a fairly simple view of the world's problems when he was Vice-President. That simplicity led to disaster abroad. His boss, the verbally challenged Dubya presided over a complete spiral into financial decay for the American people.

"No more foreclosures!" are the hand-written signs going up all over. The people know reality. Dick Cheney is still in his own land of make-believe!

Dick Cheney answers Queen's question!

The Queen has been waiting a long time for the answer to her question about the financial mess we are all in. She asked, "Didn't anyone see it coming?". Nobody stepped up to answer. Our hapless prime minister has spent a whole year denying there was a recession on the horizon. He's still in some kind of denial, so has been no use there.

However, that gun-totting, oil-dealing, war-mongering sidekick of George Bush, by the name of Dick Cheney has come running to the rescue. He now says, “I don’t think anybody saw it coming.” In a garbled interview with the Associated Press’s Deb Reichmann, Vice President Cheney repeatedly insisted that no one anticipated the looming U.S. financial crisis. Aren't you glad he's only got a week to go?

"It's awful!", the Queen said. She meant the crisis, but she could equally have been referring to the behaviour of politicians.
