Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack haunt in Las Vegas closing down

The Sahara hotel and casino in Las Vegas, once a favourite haunt of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack, is closing after 59 years after falling victim to the recession.
In its heyday one of Sin City's oldest and most famous establishments was also frequented by Elvis Presley, John Wayne, Cary Grant, Mae West and The Beatles. Elizabeth Taylor used to sun herself by the swimming pool.

It even featured in the original "Ocean's Eleven" heist film, released in 1960 and starring Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.
The 1,700 room Moroccan-themed destination was due to close its doors for the final time last night
