An image with updated data from 15 March and provided by the Center of Satellite Based Crisis Information (ZKI) and German Remote Sensing Datacenter (DFD) of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) on 16 March 2011 of an a RapidEye satellite image acquired on 12 March 2011 shows coastal area close to Sendai, Japan, which was strongly affected by the massive earthquake and subsequent tsunami on 11 March 2011. Change detection is based on two TerraSAR-X radar images, differences between both images are coded in red-green-blue (see detailed description on map's Interpretation). The task of ZKI is to provide a 24/7 service for the rapid acquisition, processing and analysis of satellite data for natural and environmental disasters, global humanitarian relief activities and for civil security.
